WOW! What a crazy week. Tues – Fri was orientation week, filled with informational session, meetings with peer advisors, Basic Life Support training, an Olympic field day, how to stay healthy in med school ect. ect ect. Not to mention the crazy social calender every night.
I’ve had a lot of fun this week. For me, it was all about meeting people, and that I did! Although I still feel like there are many more people to meet. Trivia night was fun, and then we had neighborhood potlucks on Thursday night. Friday and Saturday night were both bar nights, with a ton of dancing, my favorite. Saturday afternoon was the most beautiful day in a while. We enjoyed the weather in the North End with gelato. Perfection. Needless to say, I am tired. Probably not the best way to start off our first week of class, but it was definitely worth it. : )
I may have mentioned this, but I am so impressed with every single person in my class. People have done amazing things in their lives, many took a few years off before coming to medical school, which during they worked at a farm, a law firm, TFA, the list goes on and on. To my knowledge, I think I am the only person the come from Florida!
All fun things aside, we were also introduced to all of our responsibilities outside of school. A community service project, selectives (shadowing), interviewing assignment, ect. I can already tell that this year will be a whirlwind.
I am looking forward to classes though. Some routine. And learning. Tomorrow morning we have our first patient presentation, Cystic Fibrosis. Jumping in head first.
